College basketball: Pacific @ UC Riverside

AFTER a day off we’re ready to hit the ground running in tomorrow’s NCAAB with a strong play on Pacific Tigers.

Pacific have won three of their last four, which included a 5.5 cover as favourites in their last road start at the Air Force.

The Tigers are averaging 75.9 points per game on 47.1% shooting from the field and it’s balanced scoring from their starters that has seen them bounce back from their 0-3 start on the year.

They now head on the road to face a Riverside team that are allowing 80.8 points per game and are riding a three-game losing streak, which includes a 94-82 loss in their last home game against Portland State – a game they were placed as 2.5 point favourites.

While Pacific are by no means a top-tier defensive team they are steady in defending the three point line, and they should have no problem slowing down a team that’s shooting 23.2% from behind the arc.

The concern for UC Riverside is when their shot doesn’t drop from deep (which it hasn’t so far this season) they have no inside threat that can keep them in games.

The Tigers will be aware of what they need to do on the road, and their well-balanced offence and steady defence should see them emerge comfortable winners in this one.

The Tigers are 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven road games and we have them covering in this one almost 72% of the time.

Meanwhile, the Highlanders are 0-5 against the spread in their last five games against teams with a winning record and the team has covered the line just twice in their last 12 overall.

This price won’t be around come tip-off, and while the line may drop to 2.0 depending on overnight action we like the price for the hook.

Tip: Pacific Tigers -2.5 @ $1.95 (Crownbet)
