College basketball: Temple @ La Salle

WE’VE started the NCAAB season better than even we imagine and look to stay above 80% with another winner.

Temple have been perfect to start the season – they’re 3-0 on the year, which includes two straight-up wins as underdogs against Clemson and Auburn respectively.

The Owls are averaging 77.0 points per game to start the year, which is made more impressive given their calibre of opposition. The team is shooting at 42.9% from the field, but more impressive is the fact they’re hitting at 41.1% from beyond the arc.

That could be the biggest difference between these sides.

Not only are Temple shooting well from distance, but they’re doing so with regularity while the Owls are doing a great job of preventing other teams from doing the same.

La Salle is shooting at just 24.4% from deep and they’re coming up against a defence that allows opponents to hit at just 25.6% from beyond the arc.

Three-point shooting aside, Temple own a formidable advantage in almost all key measurable’s with the team owning better numbers in points scored, points allowed, field goal percentage, turnovers and bench production.

This rivalry is one that has belonged heavily to Temple over the years, with the Owls winning nine of the last 10 meetings between the teams. They’re also 4-1 against the spread in this matchup in the last five overall.

The Explorers have failed to cover the line in their last eight straight games against teams with a winning record and they’re 0-6 in their last six games following a game in which they were held to less than 50 points.

Look for Temple to continue their dominance in this one with our projections showing them winning by 9.7 points, making the line a very valuable play here.

Tip: Temple Owls -4.5 @ $1.95
