WE’RE streaking to start to college hoops season and look to build on our 6-2 record so far.
Virginia are unsurprisingly off to a 4-0 start this season and they’re defensive effort has been exactly what we expect from them.
The Cavaliers are holding teams to 54.2 points per game so far this season and are restricting teams to just 37.5% shooting from the field – including 26.2% from the field.
In their last start against Monmouth, the team forced 14 turnovers and had nine steals en route to a 73-53 win on their home court.
After failing to cover the 16.5 point line in their season opener (a 60-48 win over NC-Greensboro) they’ve since gone 3-0 against the spread, all of which were comfortable double-digit wins.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt are 2-2 to start their season and are yet to cover the spread in any of their games this season.
The team blew a double-digit lead midway through the second half in their last game against USC and while they showed encouraging signs to get to that point they ultimately were their own worst enemies.
While this is undoubtedly Virginia’s toughest test to date the Cavaliers also possesses the toughest defence that Vanderbilt have had to deal with this season.
The Commodores are 0-5 against the spread in their last five straight overall and we can’t see how that will change against a locked in Cavaliers team that is getting it done on both ends of the court.
Bench production has been a huge part of Virginia’s offence so far this season and we expect that to once again be one of the biggest difference makers here.
Our data has a strong lean on the Cavaliers and we suggest getting on early before sharp money shifts the Vegas line, and in turn forces bookies here to adjust their prices.
