College Football: Washington @ Stanford

WASHINGTON travel to Stanford to take on the Cardinals in what will likely be a thrilling contest from start to finish.

The Huskies have been super impressive in bouncing back from their loss to Arizona State last month, racking up 82 points in their last two games against UCLA and Oregon respectively.

While Stanford is a step up defensively they should still enjoy the advantage they’ll have in this match up on both sides of the ball.

Bryce Love remains the Cards biggest asset and his ability to find a hole and exploit it for big yardage is what will keep Stanford in this contest.

The Huskies defend the rush well – allowing just 92.3 yards per game on the ground –  and that will be the key to whether they run away with this one or not. Stanford’s reliance on the ground is what will make them somewhat one-dimensional in this one.

What is interesting is that the line has shifted in our favour here, with public bettors seemingly content to take the home team with the start for this primetime kick off. What the often blind public don’t know is that the Huskies are easily double-digit favourites when played correctly.

Love is not 100% and even though he is very likely to play he won’t be anywhere near as explosive if he’s carrying any lingering affects of his ankle injury.

The Huskies own the second-best scoring defence in the country, and are allowing just 11.1 points per game. We’re looking at a Stanford team that has massive question marks surrounding the QB position and are likely going to operate with their best offensive weapon playing at less than 100%.

If Stanford score 24+ points this is an easy cover and given how they’ve bounced back from their shock loss to Arizona State it’s hard to see how this offence won’t put up a minimum of 3 TD’s.

The visitors have covered the line in five straight games when facing teams with a winning record, and they’re 7-1 against the spread in their last eight conference games. They’re also 5-1 against the spread in their last six Friday games – this team can more than handle the national spotlight!

The Huskies have covered four of the last five between these sides and we have a strong lean on them keeping that streak alive here.

Tip: Washington Huskies -6.0 @ $1.90 (Bet365)
