EPL Preview: Week 9

It’s an explosive round of the English Premier League and as always we’ve dug up the best value out of Week 9.

West Ham v Brighton

It was a slow start but the Hammers are finally starting to gather some much needed momentum. They’ve lost just one of their past five matches and more importantly they’ve started to look really dangerous at home – securing a very impressive five clean sheets from their past seven Premier League home matches.

Brighton have made a fair start to life in the top-flight with their defence leading way. However, away from home, as newly promoted sides often do, they’ve really struggled – losing four of their five away matches and securing just one point from a possible 15.

West Ham’s star trio of Javier Hernandez, Marco Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini are starting to form a strong combination, the latter of which is now fully fit after an injury interrupted start.

Prediction: West Ham @ $1.87

Huddersfield v Manchester United

We’re two months into the new season and no one is surprised to see Jose Mourinho’s side own the best defensive record in the league. Remarkably, Manchester United has kept nine clean sheets from their past 10 Premier League matches dating back to last year.

Manchester United’s defensive prowess certainly doesn’t bode well for newcomers Huddersfield, who have failed to score in five of their last six Premier League matches.

Once again, the Red Devils will lineup 4-2-3-1 formation and look to grind out the match and given the exceptional play of shotstopper David De Gea of late, an eighth clean sheet of the season looks very likely.

Prediction: Manchester United clean sheet @ $1.71

Southhampton v West Bromwich

Two sides who are really struggling right now do battle at St Mary’s.

Southampton still possess remnants of that dogged defence that is so hard to breakdown particularly at home, but it’s fair to say that the club has struggled to adapt to Maurizio Pellegrino’s style of play. This is very much a winnable contest and after going winless in their past three matches, the Saints will be going all out to get the win in this one.

West Brom, after starting the season with consecutive wins, are now winless in their last six matches. Goal scoring is a huge concern for the Baggies, with no player on more than one goal this season. History is certainly not on the away team’s side with West Brom managing just one goal from their past four trips to this ground.

Southampton have kept a very impressive six clean sheets against West Brom from their past four match ups and they’re more than a good chance of adding to that.

Prediction: Southampton clean sheet @ $2.00
