Europa League Preview: Matchday 4

The Europa League action continues this week and as usual we’ve found you the best value of the round. Here’s our best picks for Matchday 4.

Rosenborg v Zenit St Petersburg

Zenit are absolutely flying in this competition right now. The Russian giants have won all three of their matches and have racked up an incredible 10 goals with the competition’s leading goalscorer Emiliano Rigoni credited with half that total.

Rosenborg currently find themselves in third spot with one win and two losses including a comprehensive 3-1 defeat to Zenit in their most recent outing. In the reverse fixture, the Norwegians went into the clash with five men at the back and still conceded three goals. Needing a win and playing at home will surely see them lineup with a match more attacking formation which will certainly create more chances for their opponents particularly on the counter.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in seven of Rosenborg’s last eight Europa League matches. Zenit average more than three goals a game – quite simply all signs point to the overs.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals @ $1.90

AEK Athens v Milan

Despite bringing in a plethora of new players and spending in excess of $100 million in the off-season, it’s safe to assume that Milan have underwhelmed so far this season. The European powerhouse, who tagged as potential scudetto contenders, are currently closer to relegation than they are to the top of the table. Fortunately, the Europa League has been somewhat of a shining light for Milan thus far in 2017. They currently sit top of the group and victory in Athens would all but assure them qualification to the next phase.

AEK, brought a very obvious defensive tactic to Milan and it was very effective as they stifled the Italians to come away with a 0-0 draw. The Greeks will definitely look to open up a lot more at home as a win would see them leapfrog Milan at the top of the group.

This can be a tricky away trip for Milan but they clearly have the class advantage over their opponents and the return of captain Leonardo Bonnucci will give them more confidence going forward. We can’t see AEK holding out Milan again and one goal could well be enough.

Prediction: Milan @ $2.15

Steaua Bucharest v Hapoel Beer Sheva

Steaua Buacharest’s form in the Europa League this season has been irresistible. They’ve won all three of their matches and sit comfortably atop of their group. They welcome a desperate Hapoel outfit that sits last in the group but will likely come out all guns blazing in what is a must win encounter for the Israeli outfit.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Steaua’s last five Europa League games and they have also managed to score at least two goals all three of their matches this season.

Similarly, there have been over 2.5 goals scored in Hapoel’s last five Europa League matches, and so, we can’t help but love the overs.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.72
