French Open: Womens – Day 7 & 8

A great day in the womens card saw a big return for our punters yesterday.

Here’s a look at the best bets from tonight’s womens action:

Alize Cornet v Agnieszka Radwanska

Cornet is playing some great tennis in her hometown and will look to claim another big scalp when she takes on the no. 9 seed.

Radwanska has dominated previous meetings between the two, owning an 8-2 hd2hd record against her French opponent.

However, they’ve only once met on clay and that was way back in 2006 – making this match up as unpredictable as any thus far in the womens draw.

Radwanska has had a favourable draw thus far at Roland Garros, and her lack of tennis coming into this event certainly has question marks around her potential to make a good run here.

Her only previous outing on clay was a straight sets loss to Ekaterina Makanrova in Stuttgart, making the lean on Cornet all the more favourable.

Our projections have the underdog sending this one to three sets and we believe the value on a form player is too good to ignore.

We’ll follow our numbers and take Cornet to cover the 3.5 handicap on offer.

Prediction: Cornet +3.5 @ $1.90

Jelena Ostapenko v Sam Stosur

Stosur continues to dominate the field as she readies herself for a big push towards the title.

Quite simply, the Aussie Grand Slam winner is doing it with ease right now on arguably her best surface. Yet to drop a set, her serve is firing and she is coming up with the right shot selection during the crucial points of the match.

Her 19-year-old opponent, Jelena Ostapenko, is an exciting prospect who looks destined for great things but experience should definitely tell in this one and a confident Stosur will be too much for the youngster.

Prediction: Stosur @ $1.67

Su-Wei Hsieh v Caroline Garcia

Veteran Chinese Tapei player Su-Wei Hsieh will be chuffed with her run into the third round of a grand slam, but if she is to go any further, she is to defeat one of the brightest prospects on tour.

Caroline Garcia, is young, confident and looks ever so determined to go deep here on home soil at Roland Garros. She is yet to drop a set and is coming off a semi final run at Strasbourg. Hsieh will fight hard but she should be overrun by her younger opponent.

Prediction: Garcia – 5.5 games @ $1.88
