Houston Astros – New York Yankees: NLCS Game 1

THE Yankees are certainly riding high after their comeback series win over the Indians.

Houston meanwhile have been sitting idly as after easily taking care of the Boston Red Sox in their series.

The Astros will send Dallas Keuchel to the mound for the series opener in this one, hoping the left-hander will continue his dominance of the Bronx bashers.

Keuchel owns a 4-2 career record against the Yankees, owning a 1.41 ERA in that span. In his lone playoff appearance against them he pitched six scoreless innings in a 3-0 win at Yankee Stadium back in 2015.

His record at home this season is equally as impressive and it’s that consistency that led Astros manager A.J. Hitch to confidently throw him in for the series opener here.

Meanwhile, the Yankees will counter with form right-hander Masahiro Tanaka who seems to have overcome his inconsistent regular season with some stellar outings in the postseason.

That being said he has struggled more on the road, and in particular against the Astros.

Tanaka is 4-7 with a 6.48 ERA in his 15 road starts this season and those numbers only get worse against Houston.

He is 0-2 with a 10.38 ERA in his four career starts against today’s opponents, with his only encounter with them this season resulting in a 10-7 loss where he gave up eight runs on seven hits.

While momentum is a powerful tool is any sport it’s hard to ignore how good this Houston team is across the board and how well they match up with this youthful New York outfit.

Our projections have the Astros winning Game 1 at least 79% of the time and we have them covering the handicap 67% of the time, which is great value for punters.

We don’t like taking handicaps in the playoffs but if Keuchel does what he has done at home and in the playoffs once again the Astros hitters will take care of the rest for us.

Tip: Houston Astros -1.5 @ $2.20
