WE finally bounced back with an NBA sweep and now it’s time to kick on and put our barren spell behind us.
Here’s our best bets for the action ahead:
Boston Celtics @ Dallas Mavericks
The Celtics incredible streak doesn’t show any signs of slowing down and a trip to Dallas presents a great chance to extend it.
While the Mavericks are coming off a huge upset over Milwaukee they simply don’t have the personnel to trouble this Boston team, which matches up almost flawlessly against them all across the court.
Boston’s backcourt of Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown was simply electric last time out and they’ll prove far too much for rookie Dennis Smith Jr and Wesley Matthews on both sides of the court.
Irving’s defensive improvement has been incredible this season, and he owns a positive +/- on that end for the first time in his career.
The C’s still own the league’s best defence (by some margin) and are allowing just 94.4 point per game, which is a formidable task for a Dallas team that is still averaging less than 100 points per game.
Defensively, the Mavs are letting opponents shoot at 46.7% from the field and despite Boston’s incredible run coach Brad Stevens has made it know he expects better execution on offence and less empty trips up that end of the court.
We have another double play on today’s game as we lean heavily on the Celtics on the road while loving the player prop for Nowitzki.
The Celtics have covered the line in their last five straight games against Western Conference opponents, and are 6-0 against the spread in their last six against the SouthWest division.
The Mavs meanwhile have covered just once in their last eight games following a straight-up win, and Boston have covered in nine of their last 12 visits to Dallas. The road team is also 13-4 in the last 17 meetings between the teams.
Tip: Boston Celtics -6.5 @ $1.90 (Crownbet)
Dirk Nowitzki has seen a marked improvement in his play over the past week , which has coincided with the Mavs best performances of the young season.
That being said this is not a matchup he’ll be looking forward to as he faces off with the second best rebounding team in the league.
Nowitzki will likely face off with Al Horford to start the game and the latter is enjoying arguably the best basketball of his career in Brad Stevens system.
Along with Horford, the likes of Arron Baynes, Marcus Morris and the energetic Daniel Theis will all see minutes matched up with Dirk and while the veteran may have some crafty moves up his sleeve offensively he will struggle to deal with the physicality this trio possesses.
The 15.5 total for points and rebounds are reflective of Dirk’s season averages, but he has only eclipsed this total five times this season. He is now coming up against the best defensive team in the league, and the second best rebounding team in the league.
We love that this number hasn’t adjusted for today’s opponent and feel there’s great value in this play.
Tip: Dirk Nowitzki u/15.5 points & rebounds @ $1.88 (Crownbet)
