NCAA Football: Week 12

WE’VE had a great season to date handing out free winners, and we were on the end of some tough one possession losses as well.

With the season coming to it’s penultimate weeks we look to give you as many free winners as possible to end the season.

With that being said, here’s our best bets for the action ahead:

Michigan State @ Ohio State

The Spartans are still being underrated by bookies and this is a line that they could regret.

Ohio State have struggled in their games against strong opposition – losing to Oklahoma and Iowa, while salvaging a miraculous one point win as 7.5 favourites against Penn State.

They’ve gone 0-3 against the spread in all those games and yet we’re still being given a three possession start for the Spartans here?

While Michigan State have had their fair share of question marks around them one thing we do know is this defence is more than capable of frustrating JT Barrett. The Spartans D will force the Buckeyes to be a one-dimensional offence with their ability to shut down their run game and that could force Barrett into some tough plays throughout.

What’s also interesting is that both these defences allow just 4.7 yards per carry – which is far more impressive for Michigan State given the calibre of opposition they’ve faced this season.

The underdog has covered the spread in six straight games between these two sides, while the road team is 7-2 against the spread in the last nine overall. Our projections have a strong lean on the Spartans here and this line is simply too high to ignore.

Pounce on this error in judgement by the bookies as we start the night in red hot fashion.

Tip: Michigan State +17.0 @ $1.92 (Sportsbet) (1.5 units)

Florida @ South Carolina

There’s a lot to dislike about the Gators right now and there’s no reason why their downward trend will stop now.

Florida head on the road without 25 scholarship players – missing through suspension or injury. The team is coming off a humiliating loss to Missouri last time out and they’re struggling to find players to perform on either side of the ball.

While Missouri’s offence is a more threatening proposition than the Gamecocks, this is still a great spot for South Carolina – especially with the line still under six points.

The Gators have failed to cover on the road in all three of their games this season, and have also failed to cover in any game they’ve entered as underdog.

There is still question marks around Malik Zaire ability at the QB position and it’s hard to see how he’ll help the team generate any points given what he has available at his disposal.

The Gamecocks defence was impressive against the number one team in the nation last week, and the only question here is whether they can put enough points to run away with this one.

Florida’s 20.6 points per game have them ranked dead last in the SEC and 113th in the country on offence – not a pretty number when you’re now forced to lean on your third choice QB.

South Carolina did a terrific job of slowing down Georgia’s run game last week and they’ll be well placed to do the same here and force Zaire to beat them through the air, which he simply isn’t equipped to do.

While red flags were waving for this Gators defence last week they should match up fair better here and at least force the Gamecocks into some tough three-and-out scenarios.

We have two good leans on this game and we’ll play a single stake on both as we expect the Gamecocks to win by at least a TD against a Florida side that will be lucky to put up more than 14 points on the road.

The Under is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these sides and while the Gators have had the edge in recent meeting this team is too depleted and banged up to do much damage.
