NCAA Football: Week 14

A strong showing last weekend keeps our NCAA football tips cashing in for punters – now we look to keep that momentum going.

Here’s our best bets for the action ahead:

Indiana @ Purdue

The Hoosiers will hope to break their road woes in this rivalry game with a bowl spot up for grabs.

While Indiana are coming off arguably their biggest win of the season they’re in for a far tougher matchup against a Purdue team who is also coming off a big win.

The Boilermakers will need to get another strong showing from QB Elijah Sindelar, who has performed ably in the absence of David Blough.

The key for the home side will be the support they get from their running game, which has struggled for the most part. That being said the Hoosiers allow an average of 150.3 yards per game on the ground – something that could prove a difference in this one.

Despite back-to-back wins there’s no denying that Indiana are a very different team on the road, especially when placed as underdogs.

In a tight game with no clear edge the value is absolutely on the home team in this situation.

The Hoosiers are 1-4 against the spread on the road, and they’re 0-2 as road underdogs. They’ve also covered the line just once in their last nine conference games. Our projections have Purdue winning by 9.8 points giving us great value on a small line.

Tip: Purdue Boilermakers -2.5 @ $1.91

UNLV Rebels @ Nevada Wolfpack

The Rebels are rolling and have a great chance for bowl eligibility by knocking off longtime rivals Nevada.

The offensive battle lies firmly in favour of the underdog in this one and we really advise getting on the Rebels now before the line drops under a field goal.

UNLV own a scary ground game and and they’re rushing for 247.1 yards per game, which will prove a huge edge against a Nevada team that allows 212.5 yards per game in that department.

What’s also impressive from UNLV this season is how well they’ve performed on the road. The team is 3-2 straight-up, but they’re a perfect 5-0 against the spread away from home.

Nevada have been awful this season and it’s hard to see how they are favoured in any scenario against a team that is still bowl eligible. They have struggled drastically on defence and the team is giving up 35.5 points per game on 6.3 yards per play.

The road team is 4-0 against the spread in the last four straight meetings between these teams, and the underdog has covered four of the last five overall. We have a great lean on UNLV straight up and think the line is a steal at this price.

Tip: UNLV Rebels +3.0 @ $1.90 (2 units)

UPDATE:

BYU @ Hawai’i
– BYU -3.0 @ $1.86
