UCL Preview: Matchday 12

It’s do or die for some teams as clubs lay it all on the line to earn qualification to the knockout phase. Here’s our best picks for Matchday 12 of the UCL.

Liverpool v Spartak Moscow

This could have potentially been a fairly meaningless game for the Reds had they not capitulated from 3-0 up against Sevilla last time out. Instead, they dropped two value points and a loss to Spartak will likely see them fail to qualify for the knockout phase.

The defensive end has been a real problem for Liverpool this campaign and they face a Spartak side that has scored at least once in 12 of their past 13 Champions League matches.

Going forward certainly isn’t a problem for Jurgan Klopp’s side who have scored at least three goals in their past three UCL matches.

In order to progress from their group, Spartak must win and they will likely push more men forward in order to do so. That tactic should play right into Liverpool’s hands, who certainly have the players to hurt Spartak on the counter.

Prediction: Over 3.5 goals @ $2.10

Feyenoord v Napoli

Italian giants Napoli find themselves in the unfortunate position of not controlling their own destiny heading into the final day. Maurizio Sarri’s side did however take Shakhtar Donetsk apart in their previous outing and they’ll look to do the same against a Feyenoord side who have nothing to play for and have lost their past 12 matches in this competition. In fact, the Dutch side have only managed to emerge victorious three times from their past 11 matches in all competitions.

With absolutely nothing to play for, coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst will likely rest his key players in order to focus on the league, which should once again play into Napoli’s hands. Front three Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon should get plenty of chances in front of goal and it’s hard to see anything but a comfortable win for the visitors.

Prediction: Napoli to win by 2+ goals @ $1.85
