THE opening month of premier league action is almost at a close as we take a look at the best DFS options for the weekend.
We”ll be basing our selections on Moneyball’s All Round tournament as we analyse the best inclusions for your DFS lineups.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
How Aguero didn’t get on the scoresheet last week is a mystery but he’ll get plenty of chances to do so against Newcastle in this one. Rafa Benitez demonstrated his refusal to play football against the league’s top teams as they allowed Chelsea to simply pass around possession for almost the entire 90 minutes and if they deploy something similar against Pep Guardiola’s side they’ll be torn to shreds.
City will need a response after dropping points at Wolverhampton last week and Aguero could feast on the opportunities that come his way here. With points awarded for Shots and Chances Created we can see Aguero giving us a ton of points this week.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton)
The Toffees have certainly looked a treat going forward under Marco Silva and their Icelandic midfielder is enjoying the freedom offered in the no. 10 role. Sigurdsson should again enjoy pulling the strings in this one against a Huddersfield team that is going to struggle this season – particularly on the road.
Given the amount of possession the home side are likely to enjoy here we will see a great base number for Sigurdsson given he averages 6.0 crosses per game (0.5 points per cross) and 3.0 Chances Created (2 points per C.C). He’ll also take on a greater goal threat from distance with Huddersfield likely to crowd the area and look to play for a point. A goal or assist are certainly on the cards for him in this one as well given he averages a goal every 0.24 games in his premier league career and he’s yet to find the back of the net this season.
Aleksander Mitrovic (Fulham)
Let’s start by saying this; no player averages more shots per game in the premier league right now than Mitrovic. The Fulham striker is coming off a double in his last start against Burnley and remains a pivotal figure in Slaviša Jokanović’s system. A trip to Brighton should see him again presented with enough opportunities as get on the scoresheet given his ability to score in the air and off set-pieces.
The Serbian international is averaging 20.8 fantasy points in his first three game, which is as good as any striker you’ll get this week let alone one that’s priced just a tad over the $5,000 mark. Mitrovic is averaging almost three shots on goal per game (6 points/game) to go with his three goals this season (10 points/game) and we feel the potential return for investment here is huge!
