ANOTHER strong showing with our womens bets has us rolling in the winners.
Here’s our best bets for tonight’s womens draw:
Ekaterina Makarova v Lesia Tsurenko
Makarova is coming off a career-win where she upsets no. 1 seed Angelique Kerber in straight sets.
While neither player is particularly suited to the clay courts it’s clear that Makarova’s game translates better on the dirt.
Tsurenko has struggled drastically in the lead up to Roland Garros, with her only previous win on clay this year coming against Deborah Chiesa – ranked outside the top 400 in the world.
Her 2-6 record is reflective of those struggles and she shouldn’t cause too much hassle for her Russian opponent.
Makarova should be high on confidence and our data has her as a near certainty to progress to the next round.
Take the small handicap for the Russian, who also owns a 2-0 hd2hd record over her opponent in this one.
Prediction: Makarova -3.5 @ $1.80
Bethanie Mattek-Sands v Petra Kvitova
Kvitova wil look to continue her winning return when she takes on American qualifier Mattek-Sands.
After being off the circuit for the better part of six months the Czech star made a successful return in her opening round clash with Julia Boserup.
It’s clear the time off hasn’t hampered her ability and she should make light work of another American opponent in this one.
Mattek-Sands has had some good court time under her belt, having to play three qualifiers to enter the event, but has otherwise struggled on the dirt once again.
She failed to qualify for the WTA events in Madrid and Rome, and has just one win coming in to Roland Garros on dirt.
Kvitova won’t have any issues in winning this one and her 3-0 hd2hd record against Mattek-Sands is also an extra confidence booster for the no. 15 seed.
Our projections have Kvitova comfortably covering in a straight sets win.
Prediction: Kvitova 2-0 @ $2.05
Samantha Stosur v Kirsten Flipkens
Aussie Sam Stosur will look to continue her momentum when she takes on the inconsistent Flipkens.
Stosur is fresh off winning the WTA Strasbourg International and is 9-3 on clay this season.
Her serve has always been terrific when in form and he ability to generate such top spin has made it a deadly weapon on this surface.
Flipkens meanwhile has struggled to operate as efficiently this clay court season – recording just one win in her previous four events.
It’s clear Stosur is mentally engaged coming into Roland Garros and we’re backing her to make a strong run.
She should have no problem overpowering her Belgian opponent here and if she can keep her error count to a minimum she should ease to another straight sets win.
Our projections show this one going under the 20 games total, making it a strong play here.
Prediction: Under 20.0 games @ $1.80
