Thursday Night Football: Week 10

WE continue to push on with our NFL picks as we enter the final few weeks of the season.

Thursday Night Football heads to Arizona as the Cardinals play host to the Seahawks in a battle of two underperforming teams.

These sides both rank among the bottom of the league in against the spread markets with Arizona at 2-6 while Seattle is only marginally better at 3-5.

That being said there’s a lot to like about Seattle on the road in this one, which isn’t something we’ve said all that often this season.

Seattle’s defence might not be the intimidating force it once was but it is still more than capable of dealing with its player assignments.

The Cards were given a much needed injection of life when trading for Adrian Peterson from New Orleans, and his success in Arizona has helped the offence find a new element to ease the need to throw on every other down.

The biggest question for AP in this one is how he’ll back up his 37 carries against the 49ers on Sunday. The short turnaround is unkind to everyone involved but it’s hard to see how the 32-year-old backs up that effort against such a resolute defensive line.

Arizona will also continue with Drew Stanton at QB in the absence of Carson Palmer, and while he was as effective as you could ask from him last week this will be a different test entirely.

Russell Wilson will know he’ll need to be better, and his influence will be key to covering this spread in this one.

His ability to scramble out the pocket to buy himself time could be crucial in exploiting this Cardinals secondary – presuming his O-Line play their part.

Wilson and the Seahawks tend to shine on the national spotlight, with the team going 7-0 against the spread in their last seven Thursday night games. They’ve also covered eight of their last 10 when coming off a loss.

The Cards have covered just one of their last seven games coming when coming off a win and those inconsistencies will likely rear their head once more.

Seattle has covered the line in their last four straight visits to Arizona, while the road team is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these sides.

Tip: Seattle Seahawks -5.5 @ $1.90
